Wellbeing

Putting your emotional wellbeing first will better prepare you for your fertility journey

Counselling Services

When trying for a child does not go the way that you hoped, it’s completely normal to experience feelings of anger, shame, guilt, powerlessness, or despair. These emotions can sometimes put strain on relationships, not just with partners but with family and friends too, leading to breakdowns in communication and feelings of isolation.

At Merrion Fertility Clinic, we encourage all of our patients to speak with one of our fertility counsellors. Often, this can help you to make difficult decisions and deal with disappointing outcomes a little easier.

How can counselling help?

Counselling at Merrion Fertility Clinic offers invaluable support through the emotional challenges of trying to conceive. Our counsellors understand all of the complex emotions that you might experience on your journey. Their expertise can help you to cope and find ways to navigate difficult situations like fertility treatments, ethical decisions, and more.

Psychosexual Therapy

Psychosexual therapy is a specialised form of counselling designed to address issues related to sexual functioning, intimacy, and relationships. At our fertility clinic, we understand the emotional complexities that can arise during the journey towards conception. Our psychosexual therapy services provide a supportive environment where individuals and couples can explore and work through any psychological or emotional barriers that may be affecting their fertility. Our experienced therapists offer personalised treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs, helping them navigate challenges and enhance their overall well-being on the path to parenthood.

Patient Support Group

The fertility journey can test the emotional resilience of even the strongest individuals or couples. Our patient support group enables patients to come together in a secure and confidential environment to share their experiences and offer each other support.

The atmosphere in the patient support group environment is calm and social. Some people are only at the beginning of their journey, while others have been on the path for some time. Patients who have attended say they find the group helpful and that it can be the only place they can interact with others who really understand what they are going through.

The support group is free to attend for our patients, but places are limited, so registration must be within 24 hours of the group start time.

For more information on the groups and how to register, please read this information leaflet.
