How Does This Association Benefit Our Patients
Merrion Fertility Clinic is closely associated with the National Maternity Hospital at Holles Street, which we believe is very beneficial for our patients.
Our doctors also work as Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists at the hospital, which means that we have access to the expertise of a leading, teaching hospital, one of the largest maternity hospitals in Europe.
Our doctors have public fertility clinics at the hospital and also provide pregnancy care there. For our patients, this means that they have continuity of care; they can see the same doctor in the clinic as they would for fertility-related out-patient appointments and surgical procedures, and for pregnancy care.
We differ from other fertility clinics in that for all egg collections and for certain other procedures, sedation is given to our patients by Consultant Anaesthetists from the hospital and not by our own clinical team.
Whilst this is a high cost for the clinic, it is in line with international best practice, and a protocol that we believe is in the best interest of our patients.
We also benefit from a range of other experts at the hospital – high risk pregnancy, radiology, endocrinology, haematology, microbiology and psychiatry to mention but a few.
We are closely linked to the National Maternity Hospital at a strategic level as our Board of Directors, which meets each quarter, includes the Master and other Consultants working in the hospital.
