Ease in Covid Restrictions from 16.05.22

In light of the recent easing of restrictions in healthcare settings, from May 16th 2022, Merrion Fertility Clinic will be making the following changes.

There will no longer be a requirement to antigen test prior to attending the clinic, except for those attending the clinic for treatment cycles, in which case you will be advised by the nurse e.g. day of egg collection.

You will also be antigen tested in the Clinic in advance of your procedure. In the event of a positive result, the procedure will be cancelled. When a cycle has to be deferred due to the patient having Covid-19, there will be no cancellation fee applied.

Partners can now attend the following appointments:

  • For embryo transfers in both fresh and frozen cycles
  • For egg collection in fresh cycles (this will not be for the procedure itself, where the patient is under sedation; the partner can attend once the patient has been moved to the recovery bay)
  • For fetal heart ultrasound scans. Partners are, however, still restricted from attending all other ultrasound scans.

Please note that partners attending for embryo transfer and egg collection must perform an antigen test prior to attending the clinic.

Prior to Attending the Clinic

A staff member will go through a list of triage questions over the phone prior to your appointment.

In between triage and attendance, if you have Covid-19 symptoms, have done a positive antigen test, are awaiting the result of a PCR test or are a close contact, please inform the clinic immediately.

Please refer to the HSE website for the definition of ‘close contact’.

When Visiting the Clinic

Please do not arrive more than five minutes before instructed.

You will be triaged again on arrival at reception and directed to the relevant waiting area.

Surgical masks (non-fabric) are mandatory and you will be asked to sanitise your hands at reception.

Waiting rooms are socially distanced with limited numbers. Therefore, on occasion, you may be directed to an alternative waiting area.

During a Treatment Cycle

If you are due a vaccine dose (including booster) close to starting or during a treatment cycle, please discuss this with clinical staff prior to receiving it.

A more detailed Patient Information, Triage Questionnaire & Code of Conduct re Covid-19 must be completed before starting treatment.

If you have Covid-19 symptoms, have done a positive antigen test, are awaiting the result of a PCR test or are a close contact, please inform the clinic immediately.
