COVID-19 Vaccine: information for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and their doctors
On January 6th, the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, together with the National Immunisation Advisory Committee at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, released a Questions and Answers information leaflet on the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. This leaflet includes information for women trying to conceive and those going through fertility treatment and IVF.
This information has also been endorsed by the HSE National Women and Infants Health Programme.
Dr Cliona Murphy, Chair of the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist, states that “it is important that women seek trusted information about the vaccines and can assess their risks with regards to Covid19 and the vaccine in consultation with their healthcare providers.”
